They are...this is a common Daiwa practice....see schematic at link.

Comparing part numbers of the rotors confirms, note that the same frame is used on the 1500/2000/2500 size reels, but the 2500 size reel uses a larger rotor.

I got my 1500 size reel for $80 shipped, a 2000 size should be about the same cost. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming up too.
