Re: Trout baits?
I've caught a more trout with spoons than any other lure.
A Daiwa Presso Step Dart is catching up, though

I love the Conquest BFS and Finetail pairing. It has a traditional yet modern appearance.
Re: Trout baits?
If you like minnow imitations the smallest size yo zuri pins minnow and floating rapala minnow both catch the heck out of stocked browns. The rainbows seem to like inline spinners better in my experience though

Re: Trout baits?
Nice pics Chris! There's nothing better than catching big brown trout in the river with light casting gear. That Conquest BFS looks classy on that rod.
Here's some more inspiration LowRange. Caught these guys on a bigger suspending jerkbait. While the jerkbait was suspending, I would get to see the brown trout circle the lure, like a shark, before attacking.

Is that a presso on a presso? Nice. Trout, IPA, presso and kayak. That's a good day on the water

The rod is a Tenryu Rayz RZ53UL-BC.LowRange wrote:I love the Conquest BFS and Finetail pairing. It has a traditional yet modern appearance.
The rod looks pretty good with an Aldebaran BFS, too!

Yes, I like to bring a selection of beer on my river floats. There's also a brewery at the take out point.
Re: Trout baits?
I'm 0/2 today on fishing rod identification. I think I need a drink.
Here's a pixy on a kuying leadership 76L. This thing is similar in taper to a volkey bfs UL and will launch baits waaaay out there. I'll be using this one after ice out to bank fish the tout pond. I'm not confortabe being out in cold water in a small watercraft.

Re: Trout baits?
If the fish are far out a simple bait that works well here for trout and casts great is the Bitsy minnow. Shad or firetiger work well here.

Re: Trout baits?
I've caught my better sized browns on Vision OneTens (Yes, the full sized version). In muddy water I use the brighter, reaction colors, and in the clear water I use the more natural colors. Not many bites, but they're good ones! I guess their carnivorous nature takes 'em over.

This thread lacks southpaw619 pics. I know you've got some nice ones on the STC-63UL. Post pics. All my STC-63UL has under it's belt are dink bass and bluegill.southpaw619 wrote:If the fish are far out a simple bait that works well here for trout and casts great is the Bitsy minnow. Re: Trout baits?
These trout are approx 50-72 cm and 2-3.8kg.
I release most of the trout that I catch including the bigger ones on the photos above.
Mepps (Aglia og Comet), Mapso/Lukris (Reder or Ory) and Ilba Tondo — they just beat any other lure when we talk trout.
Re: Trout baits?
Naturally, jerkbaits and crankbaits also work - but they are not in league with spinners IMO :-)
Still, in some specific situations I use them.
The one in the photo is a 50 USD handmade Norwegian lure, which I find beautiful... cheaper rapalas work fine though.
Edit: I take many photos of the fish in the water before I release the fish - such as the one in this post. However, the fish normally end up looking quite small. The one in the photo was about 62 cm...

I'm terrible saving pics lol, found one. Finished last season mainly with my Fenwick Aces 63CL J. This season I plan to use the Trickster a ton as I have an Aldebaran BFS away being dressed and painted for the rod. Putting on a ZPI pentagram star drag and hope to get some one handed trout fishing in!
