BFS Fluoro vs Braid Pros and Cons
Re: BFS Fluoro vs Braid Pros and Cons
Old post I know, but I ended up trying 5lb SunLine Sniper on my Shimano Conquest BFS and its very nice. I spooled up only 40 yards to keep the weight down and mostly use the reel for 1/8oz little cranks and BitsyBug Jigs. I tried lighter stuff under 3g and it cast ok but always wanted to pull left or get line fluff when i turned the brakes down to much. Braid is still my #1 BFS line choice but Fluoro has earned it's way onto my Conquest for now.
Re: BFS Fluoro vs Braid Pros and Cons
BFS fluoro pros: no need of fluorocarbon leader.
BFS fluoro cons: everything else.
BFS braid cons: need of fluorocarbon leader.
BFS braid pros: everything else.
If braid would be no-no, I would use nylon in BFS.

I agree 100% and why I have Braid on 6 out of my 7 BFS reels.

Just got a Doviello Acura for pond bfs on ML rod. Have 2 spools—shallow and deep. Gotta get line. Recommendation for both spools? Light cover.Hobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 6:33 pmThe the lightest stuff, braid will help with distance and much easier to pick out backlashes.

I'd go with the VARIVAS Baitfinesse X4 PE in 0.6 goh for sure.
The other spool, I would go with VARIVAS MG Fluorocarbon in 7lb.
