7-8 foot bfs rod?

Post by Senkobass1 » Sat May 11, 2019 9:40 am

Hi guys,
I new to the bfs game and wanted to see if anybody knows about a bfs rod around 7-8 foot that can cast 1/32 jigheads. I have been using a KTF aldeberan bfs xg with a super trickster 6’4 recently. While I like the rod, I wish it was longer. I live in SoCal where most people throw small tube jigs on 8 foot spinning rods, so I am more used using a long spinning rod. If there is anything like that on the market available, please let me know. Thanks! :big grin:

Maybe you are attaching a Senko to that 1/32 oz (.88 gram) jighead, bringing the total weight to 10 grams. Gotcha covered..
Maybe you will be attaching a small plastic, which will bring the total weight to 2-3 grams. Gotcha covered..
Maybe you just want to throw that 1/32 oz jighead buck ass naked  ...Gotcha covered

I present to you the almighty Beams Inte 7.9 UL Casting rod...Bam!

I'm curious too. At this point, I think you may need to go custom on a UL blank with solid tip?

I was looking at the 6’10 varivas super suspender, since it was mentioned in another thread. The baits I’m throwing are around 1-1.5 grams total, and some even lighter. That 0 gram lower weight is incredible! but that 7’9 ul foshman rod sure is tempting. Have you tried the 7’9 rod yet?

No..no Beams for me, that 1-2 gram business is not my game. Great brand though, well respected in Japan. Just helping a brother out. That Super Suspender would have been a suggestion, but it did not meet your requirments. A board member Dallief(sp), has one on the way. I'm interested to see his thoughts.

Thanks for the help! The super suspender isn’t in the 7 foot range, but it’s so intriguing I might have to pick one up  . But I may wait to see some reviews first.

I look forward to receiving the Super Suspender, which is short for your liking and with a high glass content (not ideal for jig fishing?). I do not believe that you should give attention to the lower end casting weight of 0 gram, which is just this one brands way of saying that the rod handles low weight.

If you still want a longer rod then maybe look at JDM rods for saltwater, eg Major Craft N-One or one of the many ABU rods in 7-8’ (hope the picture helps).
Also consider Aliexpress offerings such as two rods that I own and like namely the Tsurinoya Dexterity and Kuying Superlite.

Specs on that Super Suspenders look interesting.

What are you trying to catch with your BFS in SoCal? I use Tsurinoya Dexterity 7’2 with 1 gram jig head plus 1 gram crappies plastic (total 2 gram).

I’m trying to catch stocked trout. Out here in SoCal, we use 1/32 oz jigheads with small crappie tubes to catch trout. The length helps with the distance. I’m looking for a rod preferable in the 7’6 area. I have the dexterity, and it is a fine rod. I just want something a bit nicer to match my reel.
