Ajing/ Mebaru rods for micro nymphing.

Curious for those that have these rods how well do you think it would work? Single or double nymphs on an Ajing rig just curious on everyone’s thoughts. I’ve thought about picking up a fly rod again as euronymping has always interested me.

At times I do cast heavier bead headed flies with my ajing, SUL & XUL rods. Works pretty well but it's more like fishing a Trout Magnet than euro nymphing. Euro nymphing is usually done with long, light, fly rods. My nymphing rod is a 9'6" Cabela's CZN 3wt and its towards the shorter end of things. If ajing rods come that long it could be an interesting proposition.

Here's one I tie. Caddis hook, bead, minimal hackle and a soft plastic grub.

What do these nymps weigh generally? Can't be that much if you are casting them with a 3 wt?

Don't know. Will need to put one on a gram scale. Euro nymphing doesn't use the traditional fly casting with all those false casts. It's more like flipping the nymphs back upstream, so they don't have to be light.

Sounds like using micro spoons and an area rod setup may be better suited for a tiny finesse option.

Funny you should mention that. The pic of the fly comes from a post I did about using an area rod on a river.
