8'-9' Casting rod?
Looking for at least an 8' casting rod for trout fishing in lakes. Mostly throwing 1/8oz spoons or jig and bobber. 2#-6# preferred.
Unable to find anything- Anyone?

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
Off the top of my head the Okuma Celilo kokanee rods.
There's an 8 foot UL and L powered casting rod.
https://okumafishingusa.com/products/ce ... ialty-rods
You can also look into casting kokanee trolling rods from other manufacturers.
There are also ajing casting rods that are long but typically have a faster taper.
Hope this info helps you on your way

Have you looked at the Yamaga Blanks Blue Current III 82B casting rod? It might be worth a look.

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
Looking for much higher quality than Okuma- I do have a Loomis koke trolling rod that is my current fav. Maybe I need to look into more of these. Thanks for the reminder!Tony9 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 10:31 amOff the top of my head the Okuma Celilo kokanee rods.

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
I have a St Croix Wild River Series 9' light casting rod that would fit perfectly.
But I think they discontinued that rod a number of years back and would be likely difficult to source these days.
I use it for casting spinners/small spoons from shore (beach casting for winter trout on the great lakes). Also use it for light line trolling.
The wild river series was similar to the Legend series (with respect to quality). Above the Avid but below Legend Elite.

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
I have been very happy with older 9’ ML St Croix Avid and Legend Elite Salmon nad Steelhead rods with 3/16-5/8 oz casting weights. They can throw 1/8 oz but it is at their lower limit.
I did own a St Croix wild river kokanee 8’. Too soft spaghetti-like imo.
Also happy with a 7’8” Major Craft N-One. Less happy with a Palms Egeria Native Performance 8’ MH (5-18) - too stiff for my liking and 1/8 oz difficult.
I have been looking at the jdm Daiwa 90MLB-s/4 neo stage ayuing (sweet fish). It has what you are looking for in length and casting weight.
Highly recommend custom rod on Matagi tr78 super nimble of which I have 2.

Both of these are JDM rods, if you are based in the US I think the only way to get your hands on either one or both of these rods will be mail order with PLAT or AsianPortal from Japan.1nutinthewater wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 2:06 pmNo diceShadowcaster1969 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 6:07 amI would recommended 2 rods :

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
This rod rocks...from 1/8 - 1/2 oz spoons, 1/8 - 3/8 Roostertails/Panther Martins/Meppa to LC 65 jerkbaits and Rebel Wee Craws up to 3/8 squarebills and 1/8-1/4 underpins and Beetle Spins...I love this rod with 8-10 braid and 8-10 leader with a 34 mm BFS spool.City17Banner wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:44 amHave you looked at the Yamaga Blanks Blue Current III 82B casting rod? It's a blast with rock bass, stocker trout, smaller spots and still has the nuts to handle bigger bass and smallies. Lots of videos of it handling good sized black bream and even sea bass on Yamaga's website.

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
Major Craft has some higher end trout rods in that 8 foot range as well...however their lineup is mostly spinning.1nutinthewater wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 7:23 amThanks- I looked into both and neither has the specs I am seeking.Shadowcaster1969 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 11:20 pmBoth of these are JDM rods, if you are based in the US I think the only way to get your hands on either one or both of these rods will be mail order with PLAT or AsianPortal from Japan.1nutinthewater wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 2:06 pmNo diceShadowcaster1969 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 6:07 amI would recommended 2 rods :

There are a couple of baitcast models that might work, a 7'8"M and an 8'2" MH

Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
Edge rods has some longer steelhead rods that may fit the bill. I have the first strike FSS865STR (8'6" MH) spinning rod which is rated from 3/8-1oz but in reality its probably more like 1/8-5/8. They have the same blank in a casting build for the first strike and the higher end black widow in a 904 (9' Medium) which would probably be a touch softer still. If you call them they also have a lot of non cataloged items that may work as well.
Re: 8'-9' Casting rod?
TFO used to make a 9’6” casting rod with a low lure weight:
Length: 9'6"Power: LLine Wt: 4-8Lure Wt: 1/16-3/8 oz.Pcs.: 2Action: MedTemple Fork: Signature Series Salmon/Steelhead Casting, TFG STC 962-2
I have been using it for stream fishing with hard lures for trout.
I have a bucket load of rods for stream trout fishing with baitcasters and have had a lot of problems finding rods as you desire.
Custom rods are great :-)
