Daiwa Steez ct with slp works 700s g1 spool
I just purchased a daiwa steez ct that came with the slp works 700s g1 spool, I was just going to sell the spool but I’m curious if the spool could make the steez ct a capable bfs reel for trout fishing. I normally throw 1/16 to 1/8 ounce lures. If anyone has any experience with this spool let me know.

It'll work great with that spool. I run it in my Millionaire CT and it's great for trout. Your lower limit will be ~2g give or take dependent on the rod used. The spool weighs 8.14g without the bearing and pin, not super light but definitely in the BFS realm. Run about 40 to 50yd of 6lb or 8lb braid of your choice and you'll be golden.

I have though about this. I really prefer the 30mm ktf as to the slp.

You could sell your 700s spool and buy a Roro spool for it. Better for the lighter lures, especially stream fishing.jprice92 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 6:25 amI just purchased a daiwa steez ct that came with the slp works 700s g1 spool, I was just going to sell the spool but I’m curious if the spool could make the steez ct a capable bfs reel for trout fishing. I ran the AMO for a bit in my Millionaire CT but went back to the SLP 700S. It's pretty similar to the Roro but I find the SV brake to be pretty good for stream fishing as well in that particular reel as well as the Alphas CT. I usually run my brake at 1 or 2 on the Millionaire with both spools, the cast is still very controlled even though the spool isn't a fixed inductor like the Roro and AMO. The SV has a long inductor which still provides a little braking even though the inductor doesn't travel much at low RPM.

I have feeling that original brake cup (inductor) is not good. It makes too big difference to brake power at beginning vs end of cast.
I like to say, my reel works much better after changed Ray's studio Brake cup.
