22 Aldeberan BFS Line Choice Help

I have a 22 Aldeberan BFS on order from Japan.

I normally use 15 lb, 4 lb diameter Power Pro original on most of of my BFS reels.

In regards to the 22 Aldeberan BFS, am I able to still use the same braid line I've been always used? Or is there a braid line and line weight that would work better than what I am using for that reel?

15lb seems heavy for the Aldebaran and for a BFS setup overall. I use 6lb Sufix 832 on the same reel, and I wouldn’t even consider the fishing I do to be full BFS, usually casting 3.5-5gram lures on a 4-10lb rod.

Maybe consider downsizing your line a little? I find casting is far better with light lures and light line.

I think he means 15# PE, equivalent to 4 pound mono/FC.

PE is not normally referenced in #, but in No. The number relates directly to line diameter, regardless of # test. Example would be PE 1.2, which is .185 mm, the size of Power Pro 15# . Or, PE 1, which is .165 mm, the size of Sufix 832 6#.

Referencing # rating doesnt coorsipond with line size as too many companies use different # ratings. Line size is a constant.

To the OP, it all depends what you are using your BFS outfit for and your casting profile. If your looking for managability, and your throwing above 7 grams, 1.2 PE is fine. If your throwing 3 grams and can manage your line, go down to .4 or .6. Personally, I don't like anything below .6 on a baitcaster and use it up to about 8 grams.

I use strictly strait 8 pound Red Label flouro so I don't have any connections , casts smooth and far.

Using 8lb InvizX on mine, holds plenty and casts great. Concerning Sufix, their 6lb is .006"/.14mm and original PowerPro 15lb is .008"/.19mm, so they aren't way off. Sufix is always known as thicker braid. I have used the 6lb and 8lb both for BFS on DIY spools and it was great.
