List if must have blanks......

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

So let's here it. What are the 2 or 3 blanks you couldn't live without? Feel free to list some lesser expensive and spendy choices.

once upon a time when i started building rods you could do no better than g-loomis imx so thats what we used. we then started using shikari shx blanks which were a little more affordable but still light weight and between the two companies all was right with the world. then shikari folded and gloomis quit selling blanks and i had to start looking for a new blank supplier. the good news is there are many companies with good blanks now, the bad is that it just makes it a more confusing choice :? . my only advice is go with the best and lightest weight blanks you can afford and build them lighter than the 'store bought' rods are but then you'll have to start only buying high dollar lighter reels to match them with but thats another story.

For my type of saltwater fishing, here are my must haves:
Old Loomis Cb783 for winter grinding with corkies and topwaters
RX8 822.5 for summer topwaters, and softplastics
XP 841 popping for winter softplastics and mirrodines
These three blanks have each caught fish up to 20lbs.
I built the 841 as light as possible, and it weighs in at 1.87oz total, yet it can still handle oversize redfish when necessary.

Any plans to build on the new Batson 2.5 or popping blanks?

I haven't seen them yet, but the Batson Popping blanks are pretty much perfect for the way we fish here. I am sure the new ones will be atleast as good as the old ones, and I will definitely use them.

Thank you so much. Remember they are called RainShadow blanks. Also the new Immortal replaces the RX8 lineup!
