My rod building station

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

My rod building station

Post by craigrbns » Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:26 pm

Bored tonight and entertaining myself on the forum...

This is prob better suited in show and tell, but figured I would show the custom rod building room some attention. Anyway, here's a pic of my set up. One side is for wrapping, the other for drying. Personally, I cant think of a better use for a dining room! Family dining is meant for coffee tables anyway!

nice!

just dont drip too much finish on the table. also give explicit instructions to the kids to not play with any rods that are spinning on the dryer!

There are def concerns when building in the dining room for sure! I stay at the ready to clean up any spills/drips, and fortunately my 4 year old daughter respects Dad's work area!

Dang, you have a 4YO too? My son doesn't mess with any rods on dryers. But he does help wrap from time to time.

My kitchen table still has scars in the finish from a spill of some rod building solvents! And you will NEVER live it down. However it did make finishing a "rod" (err exercise) room in our basement easier to get done!
