Extending rod handle lenght

Post by fshrfwl » Wed Jun 15, 2011 3:15 pm

I love my Loomis crank bait rods but find the handles to be a little short. Is there a way to extend these handles by an inch or so.

Thanks

if it is only an inch, have you looked at just adding a butt cap, similar to what guys add to give it more weight in the butt? Instead of adding lead, you could just add a lighter weight spacer...

You could make your own 1" long butt cap out of cork if you want, and use a thin enough dowel rod as the arbor. Just glue up your cork, turn them down as desired, and glue it into the inside of the old blank end. The last 1" of the handle won't get much shear, so you shouldn't have to worry about it breaking off.
