To my surprise the seat was a non-handle through seat and had an arbor made out of rope and wood glue(I assume wood glue)? It blew my mind I had never previously saw such a thing, just curious to know if any one else had.

A good number of Japanese rods are not blank thru construction. Its fairly common. The lower end the rod, the worse the hidden materials are.

Probably explains why I had so many problems with the reel seats on the S Bass and Light & Tough rods back in the day...

It was a very strange thing to find when expecting an arbor. Tape wouldn't have shocked me, but rope and wood glue.
