Carbon Fiber Slant Bridge Tribute

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

Carbon Fiber Slant Bridge Tribute

Post by ipoppa33 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:12 am

Here is one I've been thinking about building for a few years and I finally got around to building it. A very nice guy traded me a broken Megabass slant bridge that I based this off of (thank you). I made mine out of Carbon Fiber. I used a North Fork HM blank, Fuji ACS reel seat which I cut down. The handle is very comfortable and really shines when fighting a fish.

Thanks.

Hello Stan,

Are you still building rods?

Hi Van, yup still building.
I need to do more picture taking and website updating, but I still manage to get some rods out the door.

Thanks.

That's great to hear...the custom SCV Gen 1 7'0" MLF that I bought from you a couple of years ago is still going strong and is one of my all-time favorite spinning rods. Thanks again!

I'm glad the rod is working out for you, they are awesome blanks. Heck I'm still using a couple of the old green Leggend Elites full time, they have to be pushing 10 years old.

The old Green LEs were a little more prone to breakage than the ones with IPC and reinforced resin, etc....but the one I still have has been very good to me and has handled bass upwards of 4lbs, trout up to 6lbs and snagged carp over 12lbs.

I have also casted 1/2oz spinnerbaits with the 7'0" ML, Sammy 100s, and 1/2 oz lipless and bladebaits. While these baits were not in the "comfort" zone for this blank, the backbone was more than adequate for handling them.

Read ya on the board otherwise Stan.
