Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
I saw the info about Angler's Resource being a distributor and the mention on Bassmaster.com. Does anyone out there have any more info about these blanks? They look very interesting.

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
Very interesting. I've been trying to find a blank that specs out similar to the ones Megabass uses on their Versatile rods.
Orochi XX F6-70XX Tour Versatile
MSRP: $299
Length: 7'
Power: F6 (Medium Heavy)
Action: Medium Fast
Lure Weight: 3/8 - 1½oz.
Line Weight: 12 - 25lb.
Orochi X4 F6-72X4 Destruction
Price: $449
Length: 7’ 2”
Power: F6 (Medium-Heavy/Heavy)
Taper: Medium Fast
Lure Weight: 3/8 – 3 ¼ oz.
Line: 12 – 30lb.
Destroyer Black Jungle F6.1/2-74XBJ Power Versatile
Price: $550
Length: 7’ 4”
Power: F6.1/2 (Heavy)
Taper: Regular
Lure Weight: 3/8 – 4 oz.
Line: 12 – 30lb.
Basically something with dual tapers (check), multi-biased construction (check), light weight (check), lifting power (check), 7'-7'4" length (check), 3/8 to somewhere around 2 oz lure weight range (close) and Regular to Mod-Fast Action (d'oh!).
These blanks are all pretty close but not quite:
PB731 MHF(575)
7’3” Med Hvy, Fast
60g/2.11 oz.
1 2-20lb mono • 20-30lb Braid • 1 /2oz to 1 1 /4oz lures
68 605
...A little too fast of action, and not a wide enough range of lures...
PB731 HF(650)
7’3” Hvy, Fast
65g/2.29oz
1 7-30lb mono • 20-40lb Braid • 1 oz to 2oz lures
67 650
...Also too fast and doesn't handle light enough lures...
PB761 XXHMF(970)
7’6” Dbl X Hvy, Mod Fast
95g/3.35oz. 1 7-30lb mono • 20-50 lb Braid • 2oz to 5oz
63 1065
...Has the range and action I want, but the length is a touch long, weight a touch high, and the lure size window starts too high...
I think if they made a PB731 MHMF or maybe HMF one of them might be just right.
7'3" length, ~2.5oz blank, ~3/8oz to 1 1/2oz lure rating, Medium Fast Action...
That would be the blank I would use to build my "Search for the One" Rod. I'd stick a Zillion Type-R with a PE Long Cast Spool on it and love life...

This is what I saw. I was too lazy to post a link. Has anyone put a hand on the prototypes?jim spooner wrote:http://anglersresource.net/portals/angl ... atalog.pdf

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
I don't think the blanks are made by Fuji, they are just distributed by Angler's Resource, which is known for being a Fuji Distributor.

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
They had blanks and some finished rods at ICAST, a couple of really nice spinning rods. All around nice feel with plenty of power but flexible enough tips that should cast light weights well. I'm looking forward to the blanks being available.toddmc wrote: Has anyone put a hand on the prototypes?
Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
Does anyone know if this is true? I saw this WON source and it seems to conflict the others. I'm not a big fan of WON and I don't trust most of what they say. Fuji is associated with these blanks according to what others have said.IlliniDawg01 wrote:I don't think the blanks are made by Fuji, they are just distributed by Angler's Resource, which is known for being a Fuji Distributor.

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
POINT BLANKS are not made by Fuji, they were designed in America but have been sourced offshore to a supplier with a solid reputation for building some very, very good blanks. They will be a product of Fuji's North American distributor, Anglers Resource

Thanks everyone. Has anyone seen any price estimates?

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
I have a prototype blank and I think its pretty amazing. I'm really excited to see a new high end option in the market place.

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
very cool to see them use RDA
I respectfully disagree with some of the blank naming... The good news is that the RDA numbers dont lie!
for instance: the pb701MHF has a power of 525, a stcroix 5c70mhf has a power of about 700... HUGE difference

I wouldn't use SC as a baseline. They're known for consistently being higher powered than their ratings.
Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
SC is my baseline, because that is what i use!
My example was to show potential the huge difference between a "MH" from one manufacturer to another.
The PB blanks are interesting, but they dont look to be anything revolutionary from the power/weight/efficiency numbers
Anyone hear cost yet?

Re: Fuji Point Blank Rod Blanks
Models from 6'6" to 7'6" (with a 7'10"M crank bait blank still being developed and an 8' swim bait blank) will range from about $139 to about $195.
