I don't know much about blanks or rod building in general but IMO those look cheap to me.

They are the same graphite as St. croix ScII and Sc IV. Tom Kirkman mentioned that RodGeeks also does stuff for St. croix at the rodbuilding.org website. Tapers may be different though, not sure.

I did a 6'6" spinning rod for my wife and it turned out great. They had a display at last year's rod building show in NC and overall I was impressed. They have added several new blanks this year and yes they use St Croix material and maybe even mandrels? The paint is flawless and for 15 a blank you can pick among several colors and I believe they will even do a custom color. They have a website and are willing to be of assistance if needed. Best of all their pricing is not bad at all. Yes I will build on their blanks again.

Thanks btune, the prices seem decent,would hate to put high end parts on a low end blank.

Rod Geeks told me at the show their Carbon four's were SCIV St Croix material. SCIV makes for a good blank. I have and use several from ML spinning to Swim Bait rods and the Geeks blanks should make excellent rods as well.

Was looking at their C470LF blank 7' 4-8 lbs 1/16-1/4 oz for NED rigs

Or just going with the top end St Croix SCV70MFb 7' 6-12lb 3/16-5/8 oz

Any thoughts or opinions? Planning to use 10lb braid, and 7lb fluoro leader for lighter Neds

If it were me, I'd go with the rodgeeks blank, based on specs alone. The SCV blanks are always stronger than their ratings, which isnt a good thing if you're planning on a ned rod.

Yes, they sandbag on their ratings. It's an old marketing trick to minimize warranty claims. St. Croix rods have always been more powerful than their factory ratings.

I’d go with the 7’ ml 4-10lb instead of the L... I have built on the ml and couldn’t see going any lighter for a Ned rig rod fishing bass... great blank btw! The RODgeeks c4 blanks are a great value!

They don't ship outside of North America, so that's a big fail for St Croix and Rod Geeks for me.

I fish a lot of Ned rig stuff. The St. Croix ML power rod is my favorite. I do have a light action as well, but I only use that for REALLY light heads. 1/20, 1/16 all get thrown on the ML. Lighter than that, maybe the L power rod. My L power rod is usually reserved for a 1/64 oz head and weightless small plastics.

Just to make sure, which model St Croix ML blank do you have?

I have a custom made sc3 70mlf

2 factory SCV 70mlf

1 factory scv 70 LF

The 7-0 mlf's have been my go to dropshot, Ned rig, and all round finesse rods. I have not fished a ml xf st, Croix though to compare.
