Rainshadow Eternity ETES610MXF review.

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

Rainshadow Eternity ETES610MXF review.

Post by shfishinsticks » Tue Aug 27, 2019 7:02 am

Finally built the Eternity I picked up over a year ago. Just a simple build with my favorite grip style. Don't know where that one holey cork ring came from. These were out of my personal stash of good stuff.

It's not nearly as powerful as I expected. To me, it falls more in the Lite/Fast spectrum than Medium/x-fast. It loads up pretty significantly when working a 3/8 weight. Much less powerful than my St. Croix 5S610MLXF. Feels more in line with my NFC DS610-IM.

It fishes nice and is super light weight. Balances well when paired with the Vanquish. It is the lightest rod I've ever built (excluding ice rods)

Blank: Rainshadow ETES610MXF
Guides: Fuji T2 SiC
Hook Keeper: Kigan XLA (TiCh)
Slip rings: American Tackle
Cork: Natural (Custom Fly Grips)
Inlay/accent cork: burnt and light (Andy Dear)
Thread: Makoi charcoal without CP
Winding checks: MudHole matte black.
Butt cap: MudHole.
Finish: Threadmaster Lite and Regular.
Decals: Decal Connection
