Thinking I'd Like to Build a Musky Rod BUT...

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

Thinking I'd Like to Build a Musky Rod BUT...

Post by Reverendo » Mon Sep 02, 2019 3:03 pm

I'd like it to be an 8ft. 10 in. model (8'6" through 9 ft. would work too). Now here's the caveat: I'd like it to be a 2 piece (70/30 split) model, and somewhat high-end. If I could get a Japanese blank that would be great, but I'm not aware of any Japanese rod makers selling rod blanks. Any suggestions?

If you're a skilled builder, you can make your own ferrule and turn your 1-piece blank into a 2-piece rod.

I'm not skilled. I've only build one rod. Came out nice, but that's all I have to go by...
