Hi there

Can anyone fishing this blank confirm the RDA weight of 525g?
I‘ve just measures my rod and ended up with 630g of power. Which... irritates me.

I have two other point blank rods
701MLF measured 400g (10 less than advertised, quite accurate)
691MXF measured 440g spot on

I know handle length has an influence on the results, for the lighter rods the measurements turned out exact at 13“ handle length, for the MH I chose a longer 14“ handle, which should result in lesser power. If I go for the 13“ the 701MH has even more power

Can anyone help?

Doesn't seem like the right blank.

Does the weight of the blank match up correctly?

Does the power weight match up with a different model?

Not from Point Blank but I've received several mislabeled blanks this past year. If it weren't for RDA, I wouldn't have known. Just blindly built a horribly over powered rod.

I didn't measure rda on mine, but my PB701MHF feels more like a heavy than a mh. But I've only used it 2 or 3 times since building it, and I've heard these blanks take a little bit of time to get used to them.

The weight on mine is 65.34g / 2.305oz (listed as 1.94oz on PB's site).

What weights are you guys measuring on yours?

The weight it takes to bend a horizontally fixed blank down 1/3 of it’s working length, that being the total length minus the handle (why I referred to the different handle lengths). This Rod Deflection Analysis tells you about the power of that blank in grams, I called it weight here.

Good call, I have heard of mislabeled blanks with Point Blank too but in this case not possible as they do not offer any powers heavier than the MH for the 7 feet blanks

I am not 100% sure I recall correctly but I think it was 5g heavier coming in at 2.08oz. In your case wow that's super far off in my opinion. Wonder how this can happen

RDA Power 570g at 71" WL

Call Anglers Resource and ask for Aaron, he will get it figured out. He was the point man for an issue I had.

Btw, I didn't think too much into it as well since the 701Mh is the heaviest 7' they make. I'm happy with the rod so far, but I just haven't used it much so time will tell.

One of my faves. Versatile

I received the 701MF and my measurements are:

61g / 2.15oz
RDA of 520g at 71“ working length
Butt: 14.36mm
Tip: 1.73mm
No more „cat tongue“ finish, its sanded smooth

Seems like I’ve found the MH rod I was looking for after all
