Got the grips and reel seats mounted on the Point Blank and North Fork rods I'm currently building. I'm using Fuji ACS reel seats and the two NF rods I used CRB cork spilt grips and the CRB butt caps, the Point Blank rod got cork grips from Get Bit and honestly I'm really disappointed in the grips I got from the. Both the fighting butt and my fore grip split while the CRB ones held up great. All three rods are getting American Tackle titanium guides spiral wrapped starting with a DF 8, to a DF 6 and the rest will be 4.5 running guides. I'm going to try to get my guide placement set tonight and I will try to get them wrapped tomorrow!

I rewrapped am original Kistler LTA pretty well exactly like that. Are you doing a simple spiral of something with a few more transition guides?

The spiral I just completed on a RX7 flippin blank was in the ball park of 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180. Probably a little over kill but I think the more tapered transition looks better.

Interesting. What Point Blank model are you building on?

7'3" MHXF and the North Forks are a 736 MB Xray and a a 705 HM.

The spiral I just completed on a RX7 flippin blank was in the ball park of 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180. Probably a little over kill but I think the more tapered transition looks better.

They definitely look cool that way, but I figured with my meager building skills, and that the blank is a little twisty, it would be best to get the guides underneath ASAP.

That's exactly what mine is. It definitely doesn't look as cool or fancy as the more gradual progression, but it works well. I'm going to rewrap one or two off the shelf rods into simple spirals this winter for practice. They won't be pretty, and the threads will all be black, but they aren't going into any rod building contests anytime soon lol

I have done both the gradual (O'Quinn) spiral and the simple spiral with the first on top, second at 90, and third at 180. I do not see any functional benefit to the gradual. Maybe better looks, but I plan on sticking with the simple spiral going forward.

Current builds: Xray MB 706 and SJ 706.

May that a MB 736 and SJ 736. Whoops.

Yeah I have a coat of epoxy on the MB736 and will have all three done this weekend. I have a MB664 HM om the way that I'm going to lengthen to 6'10" for a jerkbait rod.
