NFC mb661 for crappies?
Would the NFC mb661 be a good blank for pitching 1/32 to 1/24 ounce jigs with plastic for crappie?

If you're referring to the IM series, than yes. It has roughly 200 grams of power, and a relatively fast tip section. With the right reel, it will definitely do what you want it to.

I did see that post, that’s why I was wondering if that blank would work. Right now I’m using a gloomis sr782 imx, I like the rod but was hoping for a blank that had a little more back bone. Sounds like I might have to put in another order to nfc.

I measured the Loomis S782 at 150 grams. And the North Fork MB 661 at 200 grams. So they're pretty close in power.iowafshrmn wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 3:24 amI did see that post, that’s why I was wondering if that blank would work. The 661 is going to have more backbone than the 782 for sure. The MB taper more like Loomis' SJ series taper. I liked the Loomis 0 and 00 power SJ's for crappie. Its not a long shallow trout/panfish taper.
Loomis' S series and North Forks FW series are very similar style tapers.

Check also AT Bushido CB68/6-12. It's very light and 200 grams power. One of my favourite for light fishing with baitcaster. Moderate fast action is super nice to cast and keeps fish nicely.

Sorry I didn't think of this earlier but...
The North Fork SB 5100 is a really good option here. That thing mimics the 0/00 Loomis SJ's that I loved so much for this type of fishing. I built a couple for a customer that used to use the Loomis SJ6400 until Loomis quit selling blanks and he loved it as a replacement. This is about 175 grams in power.
