New NFC material

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

New NFC material

Post by timinmo » Tue Jun 08, 2021 4:26 am

Did anyone else see the announcement from NFC about a new material? The stated improvements are pretty impressive. Of course I would assume it will be awhile before it is available, going from past history.

Yup... sounds good, but as with anything, we shall wait and see what comes of it. Hopefully the wait won't be too long

I'm also super curious about this new material.

Batson/Rainshadow said they were going to announce their new flagship blanks this summer too.

Wonder if anyone else has anything on the way.

Where might I find this announcement? Are they incorporating some of the T1100 stuff?

I think it was one of the "teaser" type announcements. Appeared and disappeared very quickly here. Came up if you typed Edge new canvas material. Seems to have disappeared tho

It had popped up on FB for me but it is also on their website all the way at the bottom. Doesn't give much information, what it does give is intriguing,

Announcement is here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CP1XNDgB85e/
Our Next Generation canvas is here!

For the last couple of months we have been working behind the scenes on a new fiber and a new technology to hold that fiber together. The result? Blanks that are 30% lighter than our X-Ray and 50% stronger.

This next generation bias is random in its orientation - which means a very strong hoop. It is also so light a puff of air would send it flying (see video in comments below)

Slow Jig blanks will be available with this material in the next two weeks and we promise their specs will make head spin.

Also, there is not a bit of graphene or nano tech in these blanks - (sorry, we had to do it)

I think you mean blanks.. NFC doesn't make fishing rods. ;) However, they do have a sister company in Edge Rods where they offer built rods.

And, of course, I am stocked up on all the X-rays I wanted to build for the foreseeable future. :(

Yep, looking very forward to these!
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I just snapped my MB 736 xray from a gator scare with a fish on the line

I want to rebuild, but am wondering if I should wait.

Hopefully the blanks aren't going to price me back to the xray for now
