thrust rating for 1400lb Fisher

Post by SpinReelFisher » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:50 am

My buddy has a 17ft fisher, mod v, approximately 1400lbs - what kind of thrust should he be looking at for a bow mount trolling motor??

Thanks!

Tell him to buy the biggest one he can afford, there is no such thing as to much trolling motor, especially if the area of the country you live in has alot of wind. You can always turn it down lower if you need to.

That's kind of what I thought. I'm afraid the little 40lb that's on there (came with it?) is not going to do anything for him. I'll have to break it to him...he's just going to have to spend some more money.... And he thought I spent a lot on tackle....HAHA - he's going to have to either find a used one for 2-400 or a new one for 800. THanks again for the responses....very helpful.
