G.Loomis Unveils New GLX Bass Rods - Crankbait and Flipping

Introduction: GLX is the graphite material that really put G.Loomis on the map when it came to premium blanks and later utilized in a highly popular rod series that has been selling for nearly 20 years. This ICAST the company is introducing an update to the series and unveiled a completely new series utilizing not only the material but a new split grip and reel seat design.

New GLX

Hmm, I wonder whats new with the GLX blend of carbon to make it stronger than before? and its significantly stronger...

I like the new reel seat too. (looks like the CI4 reel seats of Shimano Jdm rods..)

any kind souls out there mind buying one and posting a review please?

The new GLX will probably not be available for purchase until September or October. From what I've read, it's not too far from the NRX in pricing. I wonder why G. Loomis raised the price? Now they will have two rods in the $400-$500 price range.

I always thought the old GLX was pretty robust. Unless it was operator head-space error, the rods seemed to have few issues under normal conditions.

With a new GLX, I'm guessing this spells the end of the expediter for the old GLX.

The TT first look posted here shows that pricing increase, too. I agree with you. Why would I even look at a GLX when they are just a few dollars away from the NRX, at least on similar models? I think the updated rods look good, but that price increase may put a hurting on the marketability. Time will tell, I guess.
