You're thinking of the logo designers.

Here's the reel designers:

Styling is a very personal thing but what do you think?

Mcyl, are you sure that the 13 Reels are made by Banax? There are not many similarities (if any at all) superficially compared to the reels you posted above. Are the internals the same?

Theories abound. Comparing the 13Fishing against any number of existing reels will revel similarities and differences. There are only so many ways to make a gear, pinion, spring, clutch, bushing and so on.

I've not found enough of either similarities or differences to say the 13 Fishing reels are re-branded existing models. Regardless of whose factory is being used to make their reels, if the exterior appearance is a new design, components are swapped or upgraded, line guides, bearings are upgraded (ceramic's), Line guide pawl covers, line guide shields, drag pressures are increased, for my money it's now a 13 Fishing reel and not a Banax or "whatever".

It appears Banax makes some very nice quality stuff (their Apollo MG model has piqued my interest). If new company furnishes specifications for a new reel based on their design requirements to any existing company's (Banax/ Okuma/ Shimano/ Daiwa) manufacturing arm, it then becomes a new reel and not a re-brand IMO.

Bottom line if you prefer a Banax, buy a Banax, same with a Curado I, Tatula, Revo or any other reel. Be thankful we have so many choices.

Just my opinion, I could wrong :)

Nope you're not wrong at all, haha Doyo,Banax, 13, PF, BPS and whoever else that markets reels does something very important for the enthusiasts.
They drive shimano/daiwa to keep innovating and keep prices honest! And that I am very appreciative for!

I have to admit however the cookie cutters do have a handle of reels I still use since the big 2 have no equivalent for.

One way to find out...I think I read once Abu got a diawa and manage to mix all the parts and resassemble...this could be interesting.

Looking at the posted review however... If a 17g concept A standard spool pitches 1/8oz...those Banax shallow spools could...be a very very attractive tuning part.
