Introduction: How many of you have dropped your cell phones in the water while fishing? How many of you have done this more than once? Do you have the need to take your notebook computer with you on the boat or into conditions where you are likely to encounter rain? For iPhone folks interested in robust everyday carry cases, I strongly recommend this:

http://www.lifeproof.com/

It's not cheap at $80 bucks or so, but it's extremely tough and waterproof to six feet, I believe. Speaker and microphone are these interesting Goretex membranes that don't really affect sound quality at all. Biggest differentiator between a Lifeproof case and the traditional ones you may have seen (Otterbox, etc) is the form factor...it's extremely slim and light. Very little difference between it and any of the thin silicone or plastic covers you may have.

Only downside is a relative lack of compatibility with aftermarket iPhone gadgetry: it has very tight tolerances, and the iPhone charging cable you may have that's not Apple may not work on this. Another consideration is that it's not designed to pull on and off over and over...it will affect the waterproof seals, and they say explicitly not to remove and reinstall the cover more than 50 times. I don't ever take mine off, but just saying.

I love mine and relative to the half-life phones tend to have around me, it's a bargain.
