Introduction: The Curado Series has been a staple among anglers for many generations and has built up quite a following, perhaps even a “legacy.” Any change in a series as popular as this one is going to receive somewhat of a mixed reaction but the move to the Curado G has been met with debate since the reel’s initial unveiling at ICAST 2011. It’s time to see just how this latest version stacks up to the previous version and the competition.
been waiting for this one. Very fair review and glad to see that the new reel is not just a Caenan. I've got both the D and E versions and absolutely love them. I'm probably just going to save up and pick up that new Core7, I realy don't like the shape of the Caeanan/Cruado G, but I think they got the colors right. At the end of the day I wish Shimano just intro'd a new reel rather than use that exising Caenan design.
As expected, performance is as good as the E, just some of the refined touches like the dragstar and a couple of bearings are missing, but its also lower priced.
I think that the last sentence of this review has so much truth to it. I, like most other's have been disappointed with my G series Curados. Why? because of such high expectations. The G series reel is not a bad reel, at all!! it just doesn't set Shimano apart from the other guys like the Curado E and D series had done for so many years. When I bought my first Curado I remember thinking to myself "Man, I dont think it can get any better than this, and if it does, I don't need it". The G series reel has me searching for something better.
