From Rigs to Jigs with the G. Loomis NRX 873C CRR
Introduction: The relatively new NRX series of rods from G. Loomis has been a hot topic of conversation amongst Bass anglers since their release. While there has been both positive and negative discussions, the general consensus is that these are some of the most sensitive rods money can buy. The NRX 873C CRR, or carolina rig rod, is specifically designed as an ultra sensitive tool for fishing bottom contact baits. Having never fished an NRX before, I was anxious to see if these performance claims had any merit!

If the rod was made in japan it would of taken the rod enthusiast award, considering it’s minor price point over all other high end JDM rods, 500 smackers is a bargain. I see extreme bias being dished out IMHO. Don’t take my word for it read all the reviews. Most of the reviews being of JDM rods I can’t compare since I don’t own or have the ability to see these rods for myself but the NRX I am extremely familiar with, especially the 873 which I have owned since when they first became available and still fish with today. I can use this review to skew all past and future reviews to understand the truth between the lines which is now obvious to me. I am not complaining just voicing my opinion on a review which I agree and then disagree with the summation. Shame on an otherwise awesome forum.

The point you trying to make is entirely unclear. Each author is free to award a product as they see fit. The author of this article has yet to review any JDM product. Those are mostly my area of the site and I have yet to write up an NRx stick so any claim of bias is entirely unfounded.
Further since your view and experience is so limited not having handled any of the sticks you claim we are bias towards, you yourself are being entirely biased.
Lastly, the forum and main review site are two separate sites under the same ownership or hadn't you noticed?

What are you talking about, there are so many different opinions on these rods it's a little dizzing at times. I build my own rods so I won't get to try one until Loomis sells blanks again, but I feel pretty well informed about them between the TT review and the many different voices on the forum. If a couple of forum members want to trash or speak poorly about them that's their right. If we start to feel shameful about bad reviews then all objectivity is lost and the TT boys should call it quits. Keep it up TT I for one love it.

Maybe if the rod didn't have cosmetic issues @ $500, it would have been awarded an enthusiast award.

I think an 8.3 (Great!) is a pretty favorable review.

I come here because the TT crew don't appear biased at all and the reviews here are the only ones I trust. I think the rod got a fair unbiased review, it was graded pretty high based on performance alone but how do you give an ultimate enthusiast award to a rod that cost $500 with the cosmetic flaws it has. The sad part in all of this is the face that there must be a fairly large number of these rods that contain flaws based in part of the amount of complaints and the fact that TT got a rod to review and even the rod they got had flaws and while they are minor it is something I don't expect to see on a rod at that price point and it is something you don't see on JDM rods being reviewed.

Thank you for including the comments on the braid-knot-leader problems wiht the recoil guides while using lighter weight lures.

I own this rod in the review ( will probably be owning 2 of them) - seems SPOT ON to me
Loomis deserves the demerits for lack of attention to detailing, they are riding on the coat-tails of awesome performance and strong buyer allegiance
