Lures found their way into retail locations relatively easily and just this year, rods have become more readily available. Though their presence has been felt and seen, we've never seen the Japanese manufacturing icon at ICAST. The question we've heard quite often and never really had an answer for is why not?

Anyone know if the new rod line will be a "Store Brand"? Sold in places like Cabelas, Tackle Warehouse, Dicks, BPS, and such without the Megabass Franchise agreements?

With pricing just above the St Croix LTB and just below the Legend Elite and Dobyns Champion Extreme, and about equal to the G. Loomis IMX models, it would make sense @ that price point.

Megabass is really putting itself out there going against some of the best domestic rods available. Being a huge MB fan, I hope they pull it off with a superior product rather than relying on branding.

That is the plan for the Orochi XX, yes. Megabass was easily one of the busiest booths at ICAST this year and we frequently saw employees from other manufacturers around the booth checking things out.
