What the Finesse No Trigger? Evergreen's Stingray 66
Introduction: As activities of our finesse themed season wound down last year, we got wind of an intriguing product from Evergreen International, but I've had so much fun using it since its arrival, it's taken this long to get around to writing it up. In truth, none of our themed years are ever finished which is why you're seeing all the overlap of past year's themes into Creature Fever. That aside, what really intrigued us about this new product, a fishing rod, from Evergreen was its reel seat. Presenting our look at the intriguing Kaleido Stingray TKDC-66MLBF-Pro.

Awesome Rod I would say...just took her out once for about 1/2 hour and get few small peacock bass and that's all.
I am wondering if it will be great for Giant Snakehead on open water??? lets say about 2 kg size???
Any input will be much appreciated

.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Wirinhar

Nice review and nice stick, Sir

. It's my go to bait finesse rod for now. I don't have a Pixy SPR but the T3 AIR more than compliments the rod, performance-wise. Still, I'm looking for a all-around finesse reel, other than PX68. Could be the SPR but I'm more inclined towards the Aldebaran BFS XG. We'll see this winter.
Looks like the solid tip trend is catching up again, in Japan more and more manufacturers take this route - EG, Jackall, Daiwa, Raid etc.

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who find Fuji's ACS reel seat a little awkward to hold. For me it's the thickness of the trigger. Anyway, I got used to it, but I much prefer the older Fuji seats.

Triggerless seats are pretty cool..but I'd only use them for finesse sticks.

On your review of the Evergreen no trigger rod, you mention triggers on casting rodsw just came in vogue 25 yearws or so ago.
I have been wrapping rods for some 55 years, and I've never seen a casting rod, even the ancient steel rods, which didn't have a trigger.
Before Lew's, who started the plastic rod handles, the most used handle was a metal handle, with a chuck for the rod ferrule, a cork grip, and a trigger.

Who casts finesse presentations two-handed?! I only ever put the second hand on when I'm looking for max distance. The lack of a trigger would be quite off putting.

I like this idea for lighter presentation specific BC rods. There are a couple of rods that I have where I wish I could move the trigger location, or remove it all together for certain techs.

I always have the back hand on the rod when casting.

"Pendulum flick" - I don't know how else to term/define it.

This isn't the only stick out there that has a triggerless reel seat for baitcasting. The Abu Garcia Fantasista Studious also has a similar triggerless baitcasting reel seat.

I'd like to get my hands on this rod. It looks pretty sweet.
