Today, we sit down with Aaron Martens, 2013 BASS Elite Series Angler of the Year. Martens sponsors include Gamakatsu, Kaenon Sunglasses, Megabass, Mercury Motors, Motorguide, Phenix Boats, Simms, and Sunline. Awesome read! I have adapted a lot of finesse techniques bass fishermen use here in AU sometime solely based on videos and text by A.M.

I'm surprised he used the orochi hedgehog for tournaments, from what I've read and seen, they are indeed fragile rods.

Awesome! Martens is my favorite pro, and he's definitely a bit of a tackle geek too!

X2. It's pretty awesome how honest and willing to divulge information he is.

Does anyone else find it interesting that he is sponsored by Megabass but fishes solely Shimano reels?

Nope, I'm sure it's not hard to compartmentalise sponsorship.
He's picked kit that works best for him.
Megabass also sells sunglasses, g-shocks the lot.

In a way I think A.M picking and choosing is great for MB.

Message is simple: Aaron Martins uses what he thinks best. He uses MB hard bodies and rods.

It's probable the gross profit per unit for MB rods and hard bodies are much higher than the reels /w licenses for every patent Daiwa holds for their reels.
