Sight Fishing with Pro Angler Jared Lintner and G.Loomis

Introduction: We received an invitation to head to Clear Lake with members of the G.Loomis team as well as prostaffer B.A.S.S. Angler Jared Lintner to fish the complete E6X Series lineup. We headed to the lake just as the fish were starting to move up to see just how Jared fished the new rods and what approach he used to target fish in transition.

Count me in as one of those anglers who's against targetting bass, or any species of fish for that matter, while spawning. For the sake of promoting a new product and "showing off" what the rods can do, was it really necessary to fish for spawning bass, while they're at their most vulnerable? I mean, if you want to promote a product, at least do it with some ethics. Despite the rod being a great performer at a great price, the method of which the rods were tested just doesn't sit well for me, personally and will not be part of my rod locker any time soon.

Spawning fish are stressed as it is and I'm no fish psychologist, but I don't think that hooking up and putting them back in the water quickly (and define quickly? Take-a-few-poses-take-a-few-snaps type of quick?), will lessen that stress. And Jared had stressed that the any fish caught should be put back into the water asap…so, there was an acknowledgment of the delicate nature fishing for spawning bass, but did it anyways to promote the rods.

And from what I gather, in some states it's not illegal to target spawning bass, but if someone sleeps with your wife/significant other, that ain't illegal either, but you certainly cross a moral boundary.

So, at the end of it all, if there were no spawning bass, there wouldn't be much to write about I suppose.
