Is the Search Over? St. Croix's New Legend Elite EC70MF Casting Rod
Introduction: High end tackle is what moves the needle for me. I can appreciate more budget oriented product, and of course, fish it all the time because of my job here at TackleTour, but when the opportunity to fish something high end comes around, that's when I get excited to go fishing. The level of refinement - and most of the time performance too - makes it fun no matter if the fish are biting or not. The subject of today's review, St. Croix's new Legend Elite, is not only super high end, but high end at an extraordinary price! Here's a look at the Legend Elite EC70MF.

Nice review. I'm not surprised by the results based on the components, price, and the user reviews that were posted for the new Elites. One correction, the spinning rods use the TVS seat. The casting rods have the Fuji PTS seat.
I wonder if that blank is available raw for custom builders? I might make it my next project in a year or so if it is.
Pair that rod with a Zillion SV TW or 103SV or Metanium in the flavor of your choosing and you have a modern combo that can do absolutely anything.

The blanks have been out for a while. I built a BFS rod using the 7ft Lite. I also built a light punching rod with the 7'6" MH Mod Fast. A lot of power in that rod with enough tip to not rip the fishes mouth and keep them pinned.
The blanks are super nice. I like the green color in the sun. Looks really cool. I'd suggest building on one.

I did a little research. It appears the blank is available in Elite Green or Extreme Blue. Was hoping for Raw Graphite.

According to the numbers the EC70MF is very similar in power and taper to the NRX852C no?

If it has the same light tip as the NRX 852c, there may be an NRX 852c for sale.

Glad to see these get a review.
As for the score, in the infamous words of Nate Diaz: "I'm not surprised motherf***ers!"

I knew they'd fair well in a review.
After handling them earlier this year, I was super impressed and plan on stocking up. St. Croix really ticked all the boxes for me on these and bumped megabass, NRX, and everything else out of the picture.
My only problem with them is that I want em all! Ok not all of them, 6 to be exact. Well...Maybe 7- That 68mhf would be a legit dedicated spinnerbait rod me thinks.
Would love to see a review on the deep crank rod, EC711HMF.
That one and the EC74HF were standouts to me.

So in one picture, it shows the rod as an ES70MF. Is that the spinning model? Also, in another picture, you can barely see the 6-12 rating. Was the casting or spinning rod reviewed or were both or was it a custom? Sorry for any confusion but I am looking into the 7' casting model and wanted to be sure the specs were right and the review was on the casting rod.

The S and C in the St Croix line designates the Spinning or Casting. The pic in this thread is a Spinning blank. Whether it was made into a casting rod, I dont know.

Just a mistake in photo sorting. We also have the ES70MF in for review...
