7'3 heavy omen black rod?

Post by KDogg14 » Mon Aug 04, 2014 12:05 pm

I just ordered a 7'3 heavy action black omen after fishing my buddies rod! I'm very impressed with the rod and can't wait to have one of my own! What can this particular rod handle? I'm thinking of using this rod specifically for pitching and throwing swim jigs in the 3/8 to 1/2 oz size range with the occasional 3/4 oz jig with a T3 attached on 15 pound mono or fluorocarbon! I love the price point of the rod as it does compare to some of my other (more expensive) rods! Maybe next year I might but a concept reel or two!

The 13 Omen Heavy isn't the optimal rod for 1/2oz and under though it will work. Bigger jigs are very nice on it. It is a nice heavy cover flipping stick as well.

I think it will work for my 3/8oz jigs because I like a big beefy trailer behind it and I have a hard hook set! 1/2oz seemed perfect though! I know I'm not going to be pitching a 3/16oz weight with a brush hog on it.

I've used it on 3/8 jigs. 13's have a good tip for pitching on a lot of their rods. I personally prefer a 7' rod for pitching though. My 7'3" is used for football jigs, wobble heads, etc.
