Post by Golferpimp1 » Tue Jan 30, 2007 1:44 pm

Alright guys, I just traded for a 06' Metanium XT, what can I expect?? What Daiwa reel is this on par with? Im interested to get it in and give it a spin against all the Daiwa reels I have. Not sure what Rod to put it on also, what applications do you guys use the Metanium XT for? Im pumped to get it in!!!!!

nice score there Golfer! The Met XT is a wonderful reel. You will not believe how smooth it is once you turn the handle. There's a review on it in the Enthusiast Section for some more details if you haven't read it already.

It's good for all sorts of things.

ITS AN AWESOME REEL!!!!! LOL....I used it Jigs and Spinnerbaits. They are great reels, the only thing I like better on the Ch100B is the more durable finish.

My Metanium XT is my favorite reel that I own. It is so super smooth when you turn the handle and it casts and pitches great. I have used mine for all sorts of things including crankbaits, spinnerbaits, pitching jigs, pitching texas rigs, buzzbaits, and lipless crankbaits. The application I use it the most with is crankbaits and secondary spinnerbaits(I usually have 2 tied on at all times).

I'm not sure which Daiwa to compare it to. I don't care for Daiwa personally just because of 3 out of 3 bad experiences that I have had with them...but if I were going to compare it to any, it would probably be the Zillion...even though the Zillion costs a pretty good bit more than the XT. Overall, the XT is smoother than the Zillion...and weighs less. XT weighs 8 oz and Zillion is between 8.3 and 8.6...depending on JDM or US version.

I think you're going to be extremely pleased with this reel when you get it...and even more pleased once you fish with it. It feels good on numerous rods because an 8 oz reel balances nicely on most rods...or most of my rods anyway. Let us know how you like it when you get it!

Yup, what everyone else said. Plus you get the clicking mechanical brake knob (Chronarch B doesn't).

Best compared to Zillion IMO. Great multi-purpose reel and even better w/the moving bait power presentations.

Throw in some TG Rocket Bearings and the Met XT becomes an awesome reel.

Closest Daiwa = Zillion just from the specs! Now the performance for your applications and style of fishing is what your really going to have to figure out.

GREAT reel for moving baits! AWSOME power! Ya don't "feel" it trying to work while reeling. Got 2 of them! 8-)

Heads up!: They are coming out with a 07 Metanium "MG". Uh Oh!
