Pitching line.

What type of line do you guys use for pitching and why? I am not talking about flipping heavy cover. I am asking about pitching docks, banks, rocks, grass etc.

I like the Sunline Machine Gun Cast for my pitching and worming. My reasoing is that the line lay on the spool is better than any other line that I have used. Now I dont know if I did a particulalrly good job when I put the line on, but I never get birdsnests with this line. In addition, I have never had this line break on me.

By the way I am using an Alphas ITO Ai on a Powell Max 703c rod for pitching and trigs in general.

I have tried this whole summer sunline MGC for pitching jigs and tubes to moderate cover and I love it. This is the best line I've used in years. Used 20#. Never breaks, good sensitivity, just could be a little more visible. I think I'm sold to this line for good!

I like 15# Floroclear myself. It pitches and handles really well, the only complaint I have on it is that the line seems to break easily. I've broken off a good bit of fish with this line, so just be a little careful with it if you give the Floroclear a try.

Justin, get away from that stuff boy! Why would ya ptich with something that breaks easy? Go with a good copolymer!

I've been using Silver Thread Excalibur 10-12 lb. for the last 5-6 years, and I'm trying some Mccoys Mean Green this year, in the 10-12 lb. test. I do most of my pitching, even in somewhat heavy cover with 12 lb test.
I say Mccoys Mean Green in 12 lb test.

Where I'm at, about all we have is bank, docks, etc., not heavey cover. You didn't say what size lure, but my partner and I use florocarbon exclusively, in 10 to 12 and some times 8 if the water has 3 ft. visbability. This is for 3/8 and smaller. we haven't broke one off in I don't know how long. I caught an 8 and he caught a 7 on 10lb. this year.
We pitch a lot of Senko and light jig/grub combos.

From what Mhood said about you, I'm sure you meant 3/4 oz and bigger, so my info will be useless.

I like either Yo-hybrid 15lb or machine gun cast since it seems to be pretty darn tough line and abrasion resistant. I mainly use yo-hybrid and have most of my rods spooled with it. I also seem to get less break-offs with both of the lines.

I use sunline sniper fc 14lb, handles great,and easy to see.

15lb P-Line CXX b/c it is super tough or 25lb MGC b/c it handles well and has a small diameter.

I pitch mostly 1/4OZ jigs with 20lb PPro braid on one of my pixzilla tuned by you! so far, did not have any breakage.

Wow. You rarely hear anyone speaking very highly of Vanish. Right now I have 15 lb. clear Big Game on my pitching rig. Not the best, but not the worst either.

I honestly can't complain about Vanish. I have never had a fish break off, not even with 6 pound test. I have had fish wrap themselves silly into laydowns and still gotten them out, with the line rubbing bark the whole way. No problems from me, I actually think the line is better after it has been used for 2-3 trips.
