Reg TD-Z or a Pimped TD-Z which would fall into the same price range as the steez?

Re: If you could only have one?
Have four TD-Z's (three regular 103H's and one 103P), and 2 Steez (one JDM and one US). All are great reels. When I bought the the first Steez my first impression was not good. After one fishing trip was thinking about selling it and thought the TD-Z might have been better.
At this time I only had 2 TD-Z's and thought the best thing about the Steez was how it had caused price of the TD-Z to plummet. That is when I picked up the other two Z's.
After second trip, I started to have serious second thoughts about the Steez. Almost immediately began to realize what an outstanding reel it is. As much as I appreciate the Z's, and never expect to part with them, the Steez is just a superior reel. It clearly out casts my Z's, all of which have Boca or ZPI bearings (Steez bearings are stock). It is noticably lighter than even the Z's, yet feels stronger. It just excells.
Can not compare to custom Z's as Skeeter mentioned, but I am sold on the Steez. I did try a Calais DC and liked the performance / quality, but did not like the weight. Sold it after 3 months and bought the second Steez with no regrets, and I am not anal about Shimano or Daiwa. Equal respect for both.

I'll have to vote pimped TD-Z as I don't own a Steez... yetolds350ho wrote:What do you like or dislike about the two? I love my TD-Zs, I think they are the best, but I have not fished the steez yet, so Iam hopeing to get some imput about the two.
Re: If you could only have one?
does the ito fall under the tdz category for this poll?
Re: If you could only have one?
Steez for me unless it is a TDZ Type R or R + or Ito.
Honestly, right now, the Zillion HLC is higher on my list than any of the aforementioned reels including the venerable Ito.

Re: If you could only have one?
Absolutely LOVE my "somewhat" souped up TDZ's, but never owned a Steez (YET!)
I know that damn monkey's gunna be knocking at my door anytime now, and I KNOW he's gunna have a package with a Steez in it for me!
I think I'll resist the temptation though.

Guys... the Steez IS the TDZ TypeR+ but lighter and with a better drag.dragon1 wrote:Steez for me unless it is a TDZ Type R or R + or Ito.

Re: If you could only have one?
I'd take the Steez, so I could sell it, buy a Calais, and use the extra money to stock up on some nice baits/line for the upcoming tournament season..

Yes Cal, that is technically correct...
Except for the availability/ubiquity factor.

Re: If you could only have one?
I in severe thoughtfulness... How I can help you dear to upgrade your arsenals?
Well, I can purchase from you one more of this bygones... even TD-Z105H. Well, two - but no more! Who will offer faster and on the best conditions one reel, to him I shall help... Well, may be two.
(Oh, my kindness...)

Hey Justin,
If you get ahold of a Steez, you may have a hard time letting it go for a Calais...totally diff reels.
I understand of course that you prefer the feel/weight/design of Shimano over Daiwa and the Calais is still a high standard for not only Shimano but the market as well.
BUT...don't under-estimate the power of the DARK SIDE!

Well, that goes without sayingdragon1 wrote:Except for the availability/ubiquity factor.
But actually, my comment was for those who are talking about buying a TD-Z and souping it up. The Steez is already that reel - out of the box.
