line for jerkbaitfishing
line for jerkbaitfishing
hello members,
i need a new line for my MMl baitcastcombo (hardbait versatile rod and alphas ito ai). the rod is regular tapered and 183cm long.
i fish lures like pointer 65, 78, megabass trickdarter, squirrel 76, vision 95, squad minow 95 etc...
what lines do you use and why? first i fished a braided line (crystal 0,10) now i use a 10 or 12 lbs mono line. it is very elastic and difficult to feel biting fish in larger distance. but the casting performance is much better. and i think the lure runs more naturally on mono.
please help me

I've used 10lb Sunline Shooter FC with the Trick Darter and like that line a lot for that bait.

I use 10lb Pline Halo for all my jerkbaits and crankbaits. That being said I've been doing some testing with Gamma High Performance Copolymer Clear and like this just as much and alot cheaper. IMO though the abrasion resistance on the Gamma is only fair compared to the Halo but its silky smooth with very little if any memory. I love the stuff for casting and even more on spinning setups.
Re: line for jerkbaitfishing
I'd go to 4/15 Power Pro. NO stretch, you can work the bait MUCH better and feel every bite, plus have the advantage of great solid hook setting power on long casts.

I use 10-12lb P-Line Flourocarbon
Re: line for jerkbaitfishing
I use 8-12lb Seaguar fluoro depending on the water clarity and amount of cover I'm fishing around.

do you fish the power pro on glass or graphite?
i felt the power pro a bit too non-forgiving for crank bait fishing, and felt i lost more bites than i hooked.

Darkshadow,
I use the Power Pro for jerkbaits, and yes, I do use it for crankbaits. I wouldn't suggest using a fast action stiff-ish rod for cranks with no stretch lines, but the "crankbait" rods all do well with braids. My current crankin stick is a Baston Rainshadow IP904 (popping blank, MH, 7'6") and rarely do I loose fish with this setup. We even troll with it, but we do back off the drags when trolling to add a little more forgiveness for the speed of trolling.
