What was Daiwas Flagship reel beafore the TD-Z? Also what was the top end rod beafore the Steez?

I would have to say the TD1Hi and Pi. There was also a large capacity spool version as well. The immediate predecessor to the Steez was the Battler in Japan.

No, the TDX HIA was introduced around 1997-1998 while the TD-Z came in around 1999-2000.

Before Steez rod line-up, IMO for US models, the Heartland Z's were the highest end.

OOO i was just about to say the heartland z too but i didnt wana embarass myself haha... still remember back in the days... when the tdx was like 299.99 ... i was thinking... it looks pretty but i have no idea how to use them so ill stick to spinning hahahha

I hear ya man...

BTW, still kicking myself in the rear for not ordering more than one of the Heartland Z solid core tip spinning rods. They were just great light power rods and now impossible to score!
