Plastic baits losing color??? Advice needed.
I noticed that some plastic baits lose color rather quickly...
I selected a dark worm-type of plastic bait, and after 5 or 10 casts, I noticed that it was becoming almost a clear bait...
I don't recall the brand of bait...
My question concerns plastic baits losing their color...
What brands are best in retaining their colors???
Conversely, which brands are the worst in retaining color???

Sounds like the bait you had was colored on the outside, instead of made with colored plastic. I've only had colors fade after leaving in the sun a long time!

I've had a similar problem this year on some lucky craft and daiwa cranks. I found out it was the yum spray (crawfish) attractant . Daiwa replaced them for me.

Some of us are talking plastic worms, and others crankbaits, which are you having problems with? I guess the way you describe it it's a crank or a plug would be a good word, and would make more sense!
If that's the case, i'd have to say that they used water based paint, and misssed the clearcoat part of the deal!

My original inquiry concerned plastic baits...
But I welcome the comment by the man who said that Yum crawfish attractant faded the colors of his crank baits...I have some of the attractant, and I will use it with care...

Yes, I think the misunderstanding starts when one person thinks it's plastic baits, such as hard plastic cranks, and others think it's soft plastic baits, such as worms!
On the Yum thing - I've never noticed it to fade colors, but it stains stuff, at least the green colored stuff I used did.
