I'm dominant left, reel right, also.
If I can't catch it, it isn't worth catchin'

right handed and reel right handed. would love to be able to cast right and reel left with baitcaster like I do with a spinning reel but my stubborn brain won't let me. god knows I have tried.

Right handed and use right handed casting reels. Tried for a couple of years to switch but it feels akward to reel with my left hand. Sold my lefty reel.

Same here... everything you said, plus I feel I can work lure/bait better with my natural side.Bob Ellis wrote:I am right handed, hence I have stronger right arm, hence I want the ROD in my right hand for casting, setting the hook, and fighting the fish and this goes for both bait casters and spinning reels. By process of elimination (I only have two hands) I reel lefty.
I get a kick out of it when I watch the "pros", and I see most of them using a right handed crank bait caster, and then pick up a left handed crank spinning outfit... and go back and forth between the two... never understood it?

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
i'm right-handed but i've tried switching over to lefty baitcast reels several times and have never liked it...this is even though i reel lefty on spinning reels. but, as i've mentioned previously, reeling lefty on a baitcasting reel is not the same as reeling lefty on a spinning reel because a spinning reel is naturally balanced under the rod whereas the heavier handle side of a left reel wants to torque downward in the open side of your right palm. besides, since i like to fish palming my reel (instead of having my pointer finger on the trigger), i'm not saving any steps by going to a lefty reel.

Dominant left, reel left. The switching hands after every cast really isnt that big a deal for me. Reeling right just doesnt feel natural to me.
Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
I'm right handed and reel with my left, although I am trying to learn to use a right handed curado e5 for cranking
