Re: Jerkbait knots
There are many good knots. The most important thing is to tie them correctly. A poor knot will be much more likely to fail (I have observed this at Fishing School where there was a 3 to 1 variation in testing experienced fishermen's knot strength). I like the San Diego Jam Knot, or if there is no split ring I will use the Rapala knot to provide a loop at the connection. I am not sure what knot would be best for FC line.

I fish my 110's w/ a palomar. you just need a large loop to go over the bait and those vlad the impaler hooks

I also use the palomar on my 110s. And on my crankbaits and spinnerbaits and hooks. Haven't had to watch a crankbait fly away and sink to the bottom of the lake since switching to the palomar.NJ Jigman wrote:I fish my 110's w/ a palomar. you just need a large loop to go over the bait and those vlad the impaler hooks
Thanks for the epiphany captain obvious

Re: Jerkbait knots
Definitely palomar.
Re: Jerkbait knots
Palomar for the braid, FC and mono with improved clinch.

Works for me too.Tokugawa wrote:I use a palomar tied to a small snap.
Re: Jerkbait knots
Definitely Palomar and if the fish are really hitting I retie after every few fish. Those 110's ain't cheap and I'd hate to lose one just because I was too lazy to stop and tie a new knot.
Life is tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid
Re: Jerkbait knots
I like to take the split ring off an use the rapala knot .

Re: Jerkbait knots
A loop knot (Rapala knot) introduces too much opportunity for abrasion of the knot for my taste.

Re: Jerkbait knots
fish n fool knot for me tied to oval split ring or direct to lure. I don't like the round split rings, and if a lure has one, I will bypass it and tie a rapala knot with minimal loop size.
