Pflueger President 6720
http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products ... -reel.html
The Quantum 05's...either their Energy PTiB, or Kinetic PTi B or C.
They also had some models Pre-PTi and out of production that were tiny enough...Xtralites...which TT also has a review on:

Then there's the Okuma ALumina 10.
Might Also consider the Tica Cetus, though they seem to be either loved or hated.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I have two Pflueger 6920 spinning reels. Specs say 4#/100yds., Weight: 5.9oz.
They are perform very well for their size and price. I'm going to buy another for my new UL rod. (Yep, I need another UL rig).
Bought a Quantum Kinetic Micro 05 PTiC spinning reel last night off the 'bay'. Same specs as the Pflueger as far as the line capacity and weight... but about 2X the price. I also read somewhere that Quantum removed the bail bearing on the new Kinetic to reduce cost. That sucks.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
Yep, the bail roller now has a bushing instead...disappointed me as well.
The 05's lack the magnetic bail too.
Better to look for an Energy in 05 size, will be a "B" model...or even a Kinetic "B".
I have the older 6720 President....there was a link where to get stuff cheap, let me find the darn thing...I'm getting to the point of needing to hire an archivist with all these links!!
Here it is...their stock varies...it's where i got the 6720:

Ernergy 05 for an arm and a leg:

I knew I should have bought a bunch of them last year...Simmons was nearly giving them away!!

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
IIRC, a mint Alcedo Micron with a box recently went for less than that Energy 05....
I'll keep an eye out.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I picked an Alcedo Micron reel last year (no box or papers) in decent shape. Thought I would remove the bail and use it on my UUL rod. Couldn't bring myself to do it and besides, I'm all for newer technology.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I'll never understand why some people butcher the things...they can be dis-assembled and a scrapper or even just an old trashed bail can be cut up to create a piscatorial special.
Or, with hardly any trouble at all, you can use the rotor off of a reel with a broken reel foot and create your setup with that. Older reels are like older cars, they are easily taken apart...heck, most Mitchells field strip as easy as a military rifle.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I have looked at some ice-fishing reels that are pretty small, but I dont think that they would be good casters.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I got a couple of the Alumina Al-10's because the spools were wider than usual and shallow.
The JDM stuff seems to have those types of spools as an obtainable accessory.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I don't know if it has the smallest body, but the Patriarch 9525 is certainly the lightest I can think of at just 5.6oz. With the right rod I think you could almost come in under 8oz for the whole setup, including line.
Re: Smallest spinning reel?
I just received my TFO Gary Loomis Signature Series UL spinning rod yesterday. Very nice feeling and light rod. Specs say it weighs 2.9oz. I just bought a Pflueger Patriarch 9525X off the bay and specs say it weighs 5.6oz.
So assuming their specs are correct I should end up with rig that weighs 8.5oz (without line or lure). This will definitely be the lightest setup I own. Looking forward to trying it out on a trout fishing trip next month.
