Rigging Giant Worms 12" or Bigger
How do you guys rig 12" or larger worms when you're looking for a better than average bite. Also, if you don't mind share what worm do you use and what color do you prefer?

90% of the time I throw big worms Texas rigged with 3/8 or 1/2 oz weight, depending on depth fished. My two go to colors are green pumpkin and junebug.

I like black, purple, and blue fleck 12" Berkley Powerworms when I am fishing for the big ones. I generally use a 3/0 or 4/0 Gamakatsu work hook, with a 1/0 stinger hook on a 4" leader. If the bass are aggressive, I've had no issues with the 1/0 hook scaring them off or making them tenative to bite. If the fish are passive, you should probably be using a smaller bait anyway....that's my theory anyhow

For T-rigging a 12" Jelly worm I used a 7/0 hook and a 3/8oz weight but a fried of mine uses a shaky head jig I make for him, it is a 3/8oz head with a screw lock and a 5/0 flat eye hook. I thought the hook would be too small with the 10" worms but it doesn't seem to be the case as that rig catches fish to the point I'm going to use it this year and I'm going to try the 12" Jelly worms with it.

The fish hit big worms by the head 99% of the time. I've taken to nose hooking big trick worms because my hook up rate is so much better. The only problem you may face is with bulky worms. You just need enough gap for the bait to pass and not ball up and get in the way.

Zoom or Berkley worms in the 10" or 12" size for me. I prefer Zoom but will pick up the Berkleys if they are on sale. I generally go with dark colors (junebug or black) since I often fish them at night. I also keep some handy in watermelon/red for daytime clear water scenarios. I rig them on an Owner 11/0 (not a misprint) offset worm hook. Weight varies by depth.

I like Uptons, Power Team and Deep Creek for big worms. Texas rigged w/ 7/0 owner oversize worm hook. Black, Junebug, Martens Trajic, Green Pumpkin, FG!, and SoCal Magic are my go to colors.

for 10" i use 5/0 gamakatsu EWG worm hooks with 3/16-1/4 oz tungsten
for 12"+ i use 7/0 gamakatsu EWG superline worm hooks with 3/8-1/2 oz tungsten
my favorites as of late are zoom ol' monsters and netbait c-macs. both worms have action that won't quit.

Do you guys typically throw these big worms in the thick middle areas of matted or clumpy areas of milfoil, coontail, or rice? Or are they more for fishing the edges of weedlines?
Looking for other options besides a jig or t-rig craw for the thick stuff...
