So in the morning, I'm waking my 5 year old son up at 6AM, we're headed out to the lake for his first time fishing with dad from the boat. He's got his rods all ready to use, and I'm about as nervous as a long tail tom cat in a rocking chair factory. It's gonna be a bit chilly in the morning, but should warm up nicely by mid day. Is it sick that he has not only a custom rod, but I tied a Vision 95 on there? And, we're fishing the "trophy lake" in NC.... I just hope he doesn't stick a good one that yanks that rod out of his hand. I'm still debating on how to keep that from happening..... I think some 550 cord around the reel stem and attached to his vest might work... We'll see!
I'll post some pics of the fun sometime tomorrow!

fishing with dad...priceless.
Re: First time on the boat!
It's surely not that cold, your lakes have open water
People are still ice fishing the lakes on the lakes around here, the only open water I have is at the dam's tailrace. Any high above 30ºF, I'm taking my boat out on the river, lol. Can't wait for the ice to melt.
Have fun and be safe!
