Shoes for fishing..zeko? crocs?

Post by cndbasshunter » Thu Apr 04, 2013 8:56 am

It's had to find a pair of nice shoes meant for fishing. They need to be breathable, non slip, moisture wicking, and comfortable.

I usually wear crocs fishing but i am tired of the dreaded spot tan. I tried flip flops but hate applying sun screen on my feet. Running shoes works but they suck when wet and they get stinky fast.

A couple club members recommended Zeko, anybody try them? any reviews? What do you year while fihsing?

Vibram fivefingers, Merrel Glove or Crocs.

The vibram fivefingers looks terrible, but I love how comfortable and agile they are.

I use a pair of LaCrosse Alpha Lite Slip Ons. I wear them with ankle socks. Found them on clearance sale at a local retailer and figured I would give them a try (don't know if they are still available). They have been fantastic. Waterproof to the top. Easy to clean if they get some muck on them. Very comfortable for trudging muddy banks. Also a bonus, I have yet to see any issue with these marking up fiberglass decks in SW boats.

Although Zeko's are nice, they are still a shoe and get them wet and they will reek like any other shoe does when wet and left to dry. Too expenseive and you can get away with a pair of running shoes instead for a cheaper price that'll air out and be light.

I like the versatility of my Croc Dots! Get bored and play connect the dots or square!

Take a look at Teva's. They make shoes for watersports like wakeskating.

The Teva Fusion Ion uses waterproof material so it doesn't soak up water. It's not water proof as your feet will still get wet but there are drain holes to drain the water quickly, and since the shoes itself is water proof, it'll dry quickly. Check out the amount of grip they have even when on soap in the video.

I own a pair of Gnarkosi, and although I haven't used them yet (lakes are still frozen) I'm probably gonna get a pair of fusion as well. You can find them on sierratrading post for $34 brand new, pretty good deal in my book.

I'll second Keen. Three years wearing the same sandals, no smell. You do occasionally have to clean the foot bed out, which only takes some water and scrubbing.

http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content ... Shoes.html

I bought a pair two years ago and haven't worn Crocs since. No marking on my father's bay boat and no slip on anything.

Also, they have much more support than Crocs.

I have the tan. Water runs out of them and they don't smell.

The have worn extremely well. My last pair of Crocs only lasted one year before they were slick in the john boat!

Keen sandals are the most comfortable footwear I own. I can fish for 10 hours on the deck of my boat and not have my feet bother me.

I've had good luck with the Crocs Work Bistro Vent shoe. It has a non slip bottom insert unlike any of the other crocs. Only comes in black which I wasn't wild about for summer.

Never gave this enough thought or heard about these other kinds..lots of good ideas. Thanks
