Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's
Well been doing a little project on a Pixy I acquired and finally got it done To me its a Pixzilla but used a PX Type R Line Guide instead of the TD-Z.
Upgrades and Options:
Clicking Drag Star Upgrade
PX Type R Line Guide and Drag Star and CC Cap
CarbonTex Washers
Worm Bearing Upgrade
Boca OS #7 spool Bearings
RCS 80mm Swept CF Handle with Red Nut Retainer
Daiwa Works Cork Knobs
Frame and Nose Piece Painted by Calfish Matte Black
Fished it last weekend and it's a GEM!
Mounted on a Dobyns Savvy MH 7' Rod great for small cranks and weightless baits!

Really nice Pixy!
Love the colour combo.
Although I think the corks are pointless all covered up with those knob grip things. I think smooth black knobs would look better but just my opinion. Its your reel!
Really nice again.

Pretty funny indeed...maybe they are hanging out with the reels on the Shimano Product Support forum?bstuckey wrote:................ ..................... ..................... ....................flaswimbaiter wrote:I would, but they are all broken or being repaired.
I'm a Daiwa guy and think that's funny.

I can go either way...I just don't like it when someone takes a potshot on one make/marquee when the idea of the post was to just share pics.
Regardless, I can't fault either Shimano or Daiwa and wouldn't pick one over the other aside from a preference standpoint. Of the Shimanos and Daiwas I have owned, about being equal...I have never had any major issues with either brand, from cheapies to limited edtns. I have noticed my Daiwas needing more care with bearing oil on the spool, more frequent servicing on the gears (clean and greasing) and roller bearings on spinners, and my Shimanos only had issues with minor components (bushings locking up older spinners when fished in the rain and rubber coming off of Conquest thumbar as well as metal guards coming unglued on Metaniums).
Based upon SW or FW, and what techs I intend to fish, either would serve a purpose for me.
Back on topic, nice reels, but we need more!

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's
Here's my first Daiwa. DX702S and '13 Certate 2506H (high speed, shallow spool). I just ordered a T3 MX 8.1 with the color matched drag star, spool tension knob and custom kit.
