The best reels that Abu has actually ever made are the round reels that grace their facebook page. One of the best to carry their badging, okay.

I have that reel, spooled with 50lb braid for frogs, that I bought from Tacklewarehouse after the review here.
I haven't really used it enough to have problems so far, but I'm still curious, just in case.
Did you have to remove the line from your spool before you sent it back? Did they respool your new reel?

I swapped the line on my Revo Gen 3 STX to 12lb BPS fluoro and started using it for throwing fat Ikas. I live in SoCal, with clear water at Castaic Lake, so long casts are a must.
I wound up engaging only two brakes, and using the magnetic brake to adjust for the wind.
It throws really well, and casts well, too.
I put it on the same Powell 714c jig rod that I have my Exo 100 is on, and fished them side by side with the same bait and hook setup. The Exo still outcast the Revo, but it was pretty close.

Never had a revo before... I'll stick with lew's. They are made in the same factory, but i like the braking systems more on the lew's. The centri's don't come out on there own.

My friend throws the Lew's, and she loves them. Next time we fish together I'll give hers a try.
Last week I threw a frog on my STX Gen 3 with 50lb braid all day, and never had a backlash or a problem.
This week, different lake, I threw 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs on the other STX 3 with 12lb fluoro in the wind, and never had any problems.
The dual braking system is easy to adjust on the fly, too. I pulled two centrifugal brakes out so they engage, and then used the magnetic brakes to adjust as the wind changed. No wind, and I didn't even need the magnets.

So it's been a while, has TT made a decision which reel they are doing a review on?

Cal, I'm wonder as to why you guys gave AG a free pass on their max brake result? AG advertise 20 lbs and TT only tested it to be a bit over 10lbs. What's the explanation? I know 10 lbs is plenty for LMB but that's false advertising. Many test you guys do is just a few pounds off but this one is almost 50% off. Just wondering what's your thoughts in this.
