Show off your BFS Casting Reels
Let's see your sweet BFS casting reels.I'll start posting two of my collections:
First is a Shimano Core 50MG7 with a KTF spool and others
- KTF shallow spool
- IXA handle/knobs
- Hedgehog swept star drag
- Hedgehog BFS air bearing
- others
I mixed IXA and hedgehog parts to minimize the weight (e.g. hedgehog star drag is 1g less than IXA).
He weighs less than 5.0 oz.
Second is a MB Zonda 68R hedgehog custom with a KTF spool. The purple color does not match well, but she is beautiful.

Wow - sub 5 ounces on the Core 50. Nice custom reels and nice colors.

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
Great reels man! I'm a Shimano guy so of course the Core is fantastic .
I must say though that the only Daiwa reel I kept from the six I used to own was my Alphas 103L and that purple spool you have would look great installed in my reel . Seriously though I think the spool matches just fine and both reels look very impressive. I might have to look into one of those purple spools for my Daiwa.

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
My two humble reels arent to the level of the previous awesome pieces of eye candy with regards to customization, but I feel that they will stand up to any bfs reel out there right out of the box.
First up, a Daiwa T3 Air 8.6R-TW. This by far is the most amazing reel I have ever had the pleasure of casting. Effortless casting of light lures to incredible distances that I've never experienced before or thought possible. Plus, ergonomically, its a dream. Smooth drag too!
Second up is a Megabass IS73 Competition Carrozzeria Custom Ito with Megabass Honeycomb Baitfinesse Spool. This little reel is a dream as well to cast as well as being major eye candy. I, for one, love the little finesse knobs as well. Originally it was paired up with a Megabass Eiger Northwall, with which I won 2 tournaments directly as a result of that combo, so the MB bfs monkey mojo is strong in this one.

No need to customize those reels since they are pimped out straight from the factory Just need to pull out a nice 35mm DSLR and do them some justice

WOW! Under 5oz. on the Core that is sweet. I also love the look of the core with blue.

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
This should be a bit of a system shock to Y'all, in fact I could think of a common poster here fainting:
Abu Revo LTZ AE-74.
KTF IXA finesse bearings.
heavy duty levelwind and worm drive from Revo inshore G2 (hence removal of front plate.
Revo rocket 9.0:1 Gearset
Polished drag and other internals.
x1.5 drag springs in (() config.
Sanded epoxy coat on handles for grip.
Tungsten Disulfide dry lube.
Spool to frame tolerance further down so that the even 4lb FC can't slip between the spool.
Used approx 2hrs a day, 5days a week every week since may '13. with a PB fish was 23lb
It's my finesse workhorse.

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
I applaud your ingenuity but do have one question. Why the heavy duty line guide with 4 pound fluoro? Try some boron nitride for lube.
