Personal best largemouth!
Personal best largemouth!
Well we had a nice warm day today, so I decided to take the boat out and target some largemouth's. It hit a whopping 41ºF today! Of course by the time the high temp was recorded I was already on my way home. Had my best day out there today, 2 over 3 lbs, 3 at 2 lbs, and about 5 little guys.
It's a only a 3 lbs 8 oz LM , but consider the state record is 8 lbs 8 oz from the same lake... in 1983.
I think this is the only lake that doesn't have enough ice to drive a truck on. North end of the lake frozen over.

Nice job nice fish as well.

41? I would have been trolling the boat to keep from freezing my southern boys off!

41 is definitely a heat wave, there was a few times I thought about stripping down to just my tshirt, that is until the wind picked up!
I had my ice fishing bibs on, it got a little toasty in there.

Way to whack them! Gotta love the heatwave in the north country. Balmy 40+ the past couple of days in the Twin Cities.

Nice chunky fish and congrats on a PB. When I lived "north" I'd have been out there too. Now, when temps fall below 60, I'm in a sweatshirt, long pants, stocking cap, and sipping hot chocolate in front of a space heater.

Man, I can't imagine being on the water when it's that cold!!! Luckily for me, I don't really have to. It's supposed to get to 80 here today .
Congrats on the PB!

Re: Personal best largemouth!
Right on man, good job! What bait you catch it on?
You ever throw swimbaits? I bet if you put the time in you could get the state record. I'd bet those north Dakota bass haven't seen too many swimbaits...
What's the main fish forage/baitfish there?

Re: Personal best largemouth!
Caught all the bass that day on a 3/4oz D&M Piranha swim jig.
I have a few Spro BBZ-1 and a couple Ragos that I left at home. I wasn't throwing them since I had only ever landed small (maybe 1 lb) bass there. This was my 5th time out to that particular lake as its one of the farther lakes for me to drive to.
I agree, I doubt any bass up here in ND have seen to many swimbaits. Now that I know there are some decent size ones, I'm gonna start chucking them.
Main forage is bluegills and crappie. Probably smaller northerns as well.
