Did you switch the stock and the I'ze spool weights?

Everything I've seen leads me to believe the standard spool is 16.6 gm and the I'ze/type R/Ito Al spools are at 15.3 gm.

Looks like the only functional difference from stock to these three spools is the addition of a few round ports on the arbor.

Man I'd love to get my hands on one of those Honeycombs or the Cosugi in purple!! :D

You don't have the Type R listed, do you have the specs on it?

Looks like Japan Tackle has the Zillion and Alphas honeycomb spools in stock.

Spent the last few months with my zonda spool and i feel its the best spool around for casting hard baits. I regularly use this spool with 10lb p-line 100% for square bill baits and jerkbaits. The spool casts a good distance with plenty of line left after a cast to fight a fish, and i have had almost no over runs. I don't know how much different the inductor is but i love this spool. The few times i tried it for pitching is when i got the over runs so i did not keep trying as i was just playing and i did not want to destroy my line that i was still fishing with. The V shaped spools most likely would do a better job as they would be lighter loaded up with braid than a zonda filled with flouro. I might spend more time trying to pitch but thats not why i got this spool to begin with.

So is the new sv spool any better than the zonda spool??? Wish someone would do a side by side.

I enjoy the SV103. Type R, and Zonda spools all for different things. My favorite is the Type R for casting 1/4 oz.Pop R's.

They're different animals. One is a deep, heavy fast spool while the other is a light weight, shallow controlled spool. I prefer the zonda spool for 1/4 to 3/8 oz search baits casting for distance coving water and prefer the Alphas SV spool for jigs and plastics casting to targets or skipping dock as well as BFS use.

Sweet. I use my zonda spool for crankbaits on top of a steez flex lite medium rod. Pitching a crank ot a target is a bad idea but it casts so nice...

I like the Zonda spool for heavier weights also, though it casts well even with lighter stuff (with 15# braid). The SV spool does handle lighter baits better, with virtually no backlash.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Tim is right. I love the SV for lighter baits. Effortless.
